The Hardest Hit march in Cardiff
19.10.11
The march will assemble from 12.30pm, in the car park outside City Hall, Cathays Park. There will be speeches from 1pm, after which the march will set off returning to City Hall for a rally from 2pm. We will be joined on our march by Boyd Clack (writer and star of Satellite City and High Hopes) who will share his views on the proposed changes. Other confirmed speakers are Sarah Rochira the Director of RNIB Cymru, and Rhian Davies the Director of Disability Wales. We will also be joined by a number of local people who can speak from their own experiences about what the proposed cuts to benefits and services will mean to them as disabled people trying to live independent and fulfilling lives.
As new speakers and contributors are confirmed we will be adding them to this page, so do keep an eye out for any changes. Please also help us spread the word about Hardest Hit. Cardiff is one of many cities across Wales that have been severely affected by budget cuts. Across Wales people are seeing deep cuts in services such as social care and transport, which they rely on to remain independent. Please come along, and bring as many friends and family as you can. Help us to send a clear message to the Government: stop these cuts.
If you can't attend but would like to pledge your support, there are many more ways you can help: write, telephone or email your MP, or set up a local event in your own community. This is a call to action, and an excellent opportunity to voice your concern over proposed welfare reform.
To register your interest, or for help in contacting your MP or setting up an event yourself, please email wales@hardesthit.org.uk or speak to your local disability group, or call 020 8522 7433.
