We need your help!
You may be aware that the UK Government is currently consulting on proposals to replace Disability Living Allowance with a new benefit called the Personal Independent Payment (PIP), from 2013. Disability Living Allowance is currently one of the most effectively targeted benefits, and makes a real difference to the daily lives of thousands of blind and partially sighted people.
RNIB Cymru, along with many others, is concerned that this will have a very negative impact upon blind and partially sighted people. Of particular concern is the effectiveness of the proposed assessment process for a Personal Independence Payment, which would have blind and partially sighted people meeting with assessors who lack specialist knowledge to provide an accurate picture of individuals' daily needs.
